March 12. 2020 Dear Pioneers,

Like many of you, we are concerned about the occurrence of the COVID-19 (Novel coronavirus). We continue to closely monitor recommendations and protocols established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and how the spread of this virus might impact the volunteer activities we engage in in our communities.

Many of our activities involve working with at-risk populations such as the elderly or those with pre-existing conditions. It is very important that you exercise strict adherence to the preventative actions recommended by the WHO and CDC when working with these populations. We have attached a copy of the CDC’s recommendations for preventing the spread of the virus.

Avoiding large gatherings of people is one of the recommendations for preventing the spread of the virus. This may mean postponing volunteer events in your communities. We encourage you to error on the side of caution when determining whether to hold or attend events.

As of today, the Pioneers Headquarters remain open for business. However, the governor of Colorado has declared a state of emergency as we have had reported cases of the virus in the region. Should Pioneers need to close the offices, we will communicate with you immediately and often about the status.

Please be safe and keep others safe. Yours in Pioneering,

Charlene Hill Executive Director
