The New Outlook Pioneers are an independent Pioneer group (no company sponsorship) comprised of the employees and retirees of Western Electric, Lucent Technologies, Avaya Communication, and Agere. As the technologies changed the corporation Western Electric began closing the large manufacturing Works. WE became AT&T Technologies after divesture in 1984 and they spun off Lucent Technologies in 1995.
As the plants closed and the corporation spun off parts of the business the community service groups called the Pioneers continued on in the communities where the manufacturing plants had been located. The spinoffs of all the Lucent Technologies all stopped supporting the Pioneer groups and the Pioneers became a volunteer self-supporting group. A new count for the New Outlook Pioneers now is over 82,700 of the entire Pioneer Membership. The Pioneers, a volunteer network is comprised of over 530,000 strong and have members throughout the United States.
We are geographically organized into seven Chapters. Chapters are further subdivided into Councils and Clubs. Please go to Chapters on the navigation bar (click on Chapters and a list of Chapters appears) for detailed information about each Chapter and their activities. For additional information about a Chapter in your area, please contact the Chapter leadership listed under the navigation button titled Chapter Officers.
